MIND POWER COLLECTIVE
We see potential and possibility for revolution in the creative spaces between our personal and professional lives.
By nourishing and replenishing educator spirits and energies through fun and creative events and useful resources, we can better sustain our commitment to justice and equity while building stronger relationships.
We see the arts as a vehicle for social change, movement building and criticial pedagogy. We are using the creative space to redefine what professional development and networking means in a region that has so many educators, activists, artists and cultural workers striving for a common vision.
By building connection and trust with each other, in spaces uniquely devoted to socially conscious educators, artists and activists, we support transforming the landscape of education...

ABOUT US
Mind Power Collective was founded in 2005 with the idea of just having a party for youth and cultural workers by two creatively inclined, hip hop influenced educators while in grad school over drinks in Oakland. There were clearly a lot of people working hard to create social change, but the environment seemed fractured as folks rarely had spaces to just relax, kick it and get to really know each other. Bringing educators, artists. youth and cultural workers together through music, art and dance seemed like a great way to build community and connection while networking, learning, growing and creating with each other.
Since this intial concept of co-founders Aaron Nakai and Jayeesha Dutta, Mind Power Collective has grown in membership to a listserv of over 1600 and has hosted many events in the Bay Area including an annual Summer Soulstice celebration, Sunday Salons, "Creating Equity" Summer Arts Institute, the Oakland Youth Arts Festival, and post-T4SJ conference celebration.
We are also excited to now be building connections with colleagues, friends and allies across the country.
